The future of work is not something that is yet to come — it is already here. Digital transformation is advancing at a rapid pace across Europe, reshaping the way we work, learn, and interact with technology. In this context, technology roles have become essential to driving business competitiveness and supporting the evolution of every sector, from healthcare to logistics, education, and industry.

According to the European Commission, more than 20 million ICT specialists will be needed by 2030. Fields such as DevOps, Cloud Computing, and Automation are experiencing growing demand, driven by the need to develop more efficient, secure, and scalable solutions.

These figures do not represent a distant prediction or a future trend: they are evidence of a current and tangible need. Companies are actively seeking talent. But more importantly, they are looking for people who are willing to learn, grow, and bring new and diverse perspectives into the tech world.

The gender gap in the tech sector

Despite this landscape full of opportunities, women continue to be underrepresented in technology professions. This gap is not due to a lack of ability, preparation, or interest, but rather to structural and cultural barriers that have historically limited their access to the field.

However, this scenario is changing. More and more women are choosing to redirect their careers toward technology, even when coming from non-digital backgrounds such as education, administration, healthcare, psychology, or commerce.

This demonstrates that the starting point does not determine the destination: what truly matters is motivation, perseverance, and the right support.

Learning from scratch Is possible

Today, there are accessible training initiatives, free programs, mentoring opportunities, and supportive communities specifically designed to guide individuals who want to make the transition into the tech sector. These programs allow people to learn step-by-step, from the ground up, in a safe environment focused on employability.

In our Project DevOps Academy, for example, technical knowledge is combined with collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement. It is an ideal field for those who enjoy solving problems, working as part of a team, and building solutions that create real impact.

We are working to drive this change

At DevOps Academy we firmly believe that technology needs diversity in order to evolve. That is why we are developing an accessible, practical, and guided training pathway, designed especially for women who are seeking a new professional stage, regardless of their previous experience.

We know that starting something new can feel overwhelming. But we also know that meaningful opportunities arise when we dare to take the first step. If you have ever considered changing direction, this may be your moment.

The free training courses that we are preparing will be a useful tool to encourage women and other participants to access this digital market and its linked opportunities.
